$5/$25 Purchase at Dollar General on 7/28

There are no shortages of Dollar Generals in the St. Clair County area!  And you can SAVE on Saturday, 7/28, with this coupon!

If you haven’t signed up for Dollar General’s digital coupons you can still sign up!  If you already have an account, then be sure to log in and add your coupons to your account!

And don’t forget, that’s the price you have to spend BEFORE your manufacturer coupons!  So you can bring your total down even more using printable coupons, newspaper coupons and other Dollar General eCoupons.

This has become such a regular occurrence that I keep a running list of items I need or like to get from DG that we’re running low on and make a trip to get them and use my coupon.  It’s great because Dollar General is the closest store to my house!

This is a digital coupon so you have to sign up for their digital coupons but it’s quick and painless!  You’ll use your digital coupons account to activate the coupons you want and then at the checkout in store you’ll enter your phone number on the keypad.  Your digital coupons will be applied!

Don’t forget to check your Ibotta app for rebates you can pick up when you shop!

Need school supplies?  You can clip the digital coupon for $5 off $15 or more in school supplies (valid thru 9/4).  It cannot be used with the $5/$25.  I have some tips for you if you’d like to use the $5/$15 for school supplies and the $5/$25 on other items

  • Shop for school supplies on a day other than Saturday.  That’s the easiest way to make sure the wrong coupon isn’t applied to your purchase.  The school supplies coupon is valid thru 9/4!
  • Do TWO transactions on Saturday.   Do your regular $5/$25 items first.  Then do a school supply transaction.  (The reason for this order is because if you do school supplies first but they total more than $25, the $5/$25 may deduct instead of the school supplies coupon.  And then you won’t have the $5/$25 for your other items.

Try Walmart’s Online Grocery Pick Up and Save $10 on your first Order!

I’ve used this myself a couple times.  It’s great when you’re busy or, as many people are pointing our right now, you don’t want to catch the flu from walking around Walmart!

We’re all looking to save a little money too, so I say it’s worth it to try it at least ONCE so you can save $10 off your first order.  I mean, that’s just 10 free dollars you’re missing out on if you don’t do it.

Walmart stores in Leeds, Trussville and HWY 280/Inverness have online grocery pickup.  Springville will be launching online grocery pick up in SEPTEMBER!

How does it work?   Order online, set a time to pick up your order, and they bring your order right out to the car to you!   You can schedule a time to pick up your groceries!  They do they hard part!

Here are some things you need to know and some answers to some complete untruths about Walmart Online Grocery Pickup:

  • You can’t use paper coupons or grocery cash back apps.
  • You CAN still use Walmart’s Savings Catcher after your purchase for savings!
  • There are NO fees for using Online Grocery Pickup.  There is NO MARKUP on the items.  (Despite what anyone on Facebook tells you, it’s just not true.)
  • Don’t try to tip the people who load your groceries.  It’s not allowed.
  • Some complaints are that it’s hard to get a pick up time because they fill up fast.  That means the service is popular, which is good!  They will adjust the supply to meet the demand – they will open up more pick up spots!
  • Try about 2 days out to “start your order”.  As long as you pick your time and add at least one item to your cart, it will hold your spot.  It will give you a deadline to complete your order (usually about 12 hours or so before your scheduled pick up time).  You know how you go to the store and get a ton of stuff and come home and realize you forgot one thing?  Yeah, treat your order like that – add everything you THINK you need and you’ll have about a day to add those things you forgot!

I purchased store brand items, things I didn’t have coupons on and items I knew Walmart had a good price on.  So even without “coupons” I feel like I still did a good job saving – and on top of that I got $10 off my first order!

Click here to get a code for $10 off your first order to save time and money!  You will be issued a single use code to use at checkout to get your $10 off!

Plus, I got a cute bag full of free items when I picked up my first order!

Don’t forget to check out the new “Bonuses” and “Store Extras” section of your app.

Alabama’s 2018 Back to School Tax Free Shopping Weekend July 20-22

Tax Free Back to School Shopping for Alabama will be July 20-22, 2018.  That’s earlier than usual to help you get your shopping done.

What does tax-free weekend shopping mean?

Beginning at 12:01 a.m. (CST) on Friday, July 21, 2017, and ending at twelve midnight on Sunday, July 23, 2017, Alabama will hold its annual sales tax holiday giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers, and clothing free of state sales or use tax.  Local sales and use tax may apply – see list of participating cities and counties.

Retailers in the state are required to not charge state tax on purchases during this weekend.  Also, counties and cities themselves may choose to waive local taxes also.

Here are the local areas participating in the waiving of additional local taxes (some with restrictions listed):

Anniston

Argo

Ashville

Birmingham

Blount County

Calhoun County

Clay

Chelsea

Etowah County

Gadsden

Homewood

Hoover

Jefferson County – ONLY applies to Jefferson County’s regular sales and use tax of one percent (1%). Jefferson County DOES NOT GRANT a holiday for the “Education” (7137) sales and use tax of one percent (1%).

Leeds

Mountain Brook

Odenville

Oneonta

Oxford – ONLY applies to Oxford’s 4% sales and use tax.  Oxford DOES NOT GRANT a holiday for the remaining 1% levied for education.

Pell City

St. Clair County

Springville

Steele

Talladega/ Talladega County

Trussville

These locations are NOT waiving local taxes:  MOODY, Margaret and Ragland.

Looks like the best places to shop will be Pell City, Springville and Odenville since they will be waiving city taxes and are within St. Clair County (which is waiving all but 1%).  Or Leeds or Trussville since they are waving city taxes and Jefferson County is waiving all but 1% of county taxes.  If you shop in Moody, you will pay city taxes, but not state or county.

Items that will be exempt:

Clothing – less than $100 per item restriction (some exclusions apply)

School Supplies – less than $50 per item restriction
includes but not limited too: backpacks, binders, pens, pencils, crayons, markers, paper, calculators, etc.

Books – less than $30 per item restriction (some exclusions apply)

Also included are computers and certain accessories and software.

See the full list here.
